3 months later | Clickin’ Moms

the end of april brought the end of 3 months now that i’ve been working with Clickin’ Moms. remember back in march when my goal was to be shooting in manual by may? well here we are and i’ve never turned on auto. so glad i decided to fumble my way through because even though i do have a lot of shots that suck – i’m really, really happy and in love with so many shots i’ve captured. shots that i know would not have been as good had i captured them in auto.

it’s been a mixture of the Clickin’ Moms forums, my wonderful friend Fiona and my own trial and error (and much swearing) that has gotten me to the point where i am today. in the grand scheme of things i am still at the very (very) beginning of my photography journey. i have most everything to learn, even basics, but i’ve moved a tiny bit forward so i am really happy about it. i’m not scared of my camera like i was when i took it out of the box. and i’m not as scared to try things in photoshop (but for the most part it still really freaks me out).

and Scot! well jeez, he doesn’t use CM, or Fiona, or even practice and he’s better than me. isn’t that just dudes for you? oh this camera? sure i can figure it out. oh we’re on a diet? cool, i’m already down 5 pounds from just the mention of it. oh we’re going running? neat, i just ran 6 miles while you suffered through a lap.

ok but seriously, he is doing amazing. he takes our SOS pictures and catches some pretty good moments that always make me laugh later when i’m looking them over. he is much quicker than me at getting settings right. i’m just jealous, trust me.

the offer to try Clickin’ Moms still stands! you can still try it all out for free with the code THEHAPSTRIAL or 20% off a 6 or 12 month membership with code THEHAPS. if you have any questions about using CM, email me or leave me a comment here and i will get back to you. i know it can be overwhelming to come into something where everyone seems to know what they are doing, but one of the reasons i LOVE CM is because of the helpful people there. they all want to help and do a great job explaining even the simplest things. i’d be happy to help you navigate if you need it.

i’m also participating in a twitter party with CM and the other CM Blog Ambassadors this week for #BeyondSnapshots, a book by my pal Rachel Devine and her friend Peta Mazey. i have followed Rachel since before i was even blogging here and just adore her. i’ve never participated in a twitter party, so it should be equal parts fun and awkward on my part. i’d love for you to participate, too. there are some awesome prizes and it’s a great opportunity to learn and ask questions. rsvp over at Jill’s blog (so you can win the prizes) as well as get all the details!

oh and! i AM working on more photo tips posts. they take a while to get together and i have lots of info to share and tend to get off track while i’m writing them, but i am writing them. if you want to see the first one i put together on aperture, it’s here (read the comments, too! my readers are super helpful).

do you have any photography goals? i’d love to open the comments up to any questions and i’ll do my best to help!
